ST. CROIX, VI ─ The Phillips Charitable Foundation Inc. provided Queen Louise Home of Lutheran Social Services of the Virgin Islands with a considerable donation of $40,000. The kind donation was given to sponsor the cost of a new van for the children’s facility. Recently, the three vans at Queen Louise Home began to wear down from every day use. Phillips Charitable Foundation became aware of the struggle with transportation and chose to offer their support in a monumental way by providing funding for a new vehicle.
This is not the first generous deed that the foundation has made in support of Queen Louise Home as they have provided necessary resources every year since 2019. Phillips Charitable Foundation has built a heartwarming partnership and connection with Queen Louise over the years and made it their mission to reach out and offer aid in whatever way they can.
“I am truly thankful for the partnership we’ve formed with the Phillip Charitable Foundation. It is with partnerships like these and the support of individuals near and far that allow for Queen Louise Home to soon celebrate 119 years of caring for children in our community,” said Junia John-Straker, CEO of Lutheran Social Services of the Virgin Islands.
The brand-new van was delivered to Queen Louise Home this month and the Queen Louise staff commenced with their tradition of hosting a blessing for the vehicle. The Director of Queen Louise, Mr. Uklyn Hendricks, is an ordained pastor and took the liberty of leading the blessing. Staff at Lutheran Social Services also made a thank you sign to express their gratitude to Phillips Charitable Foundation for their generosity.
“I know that transportation is a critical component of the operations of Queen Louise House, ensuring that children can attend their home school district, their extracurricular activities, and other appointments and events. It is a pleasure to enable your team to provide that service in a safe, reliable, and comfortable new van.
Thank you for the work you do to provide safety, support, and hope for vulnerable children as well as the other populations you serve. We believe in the transformative power of your work and are honored to continue to support it.” – Eileen McDonnell Gross, Founder of Phillips Charitable Foundation Inc.
