Since our humble beginnings in 1904, Queen Louise Home for Children has provided a safe haven and residential foster care for children in the Virgin Islands who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected. Our program provides temporary placement in a family setting where children receive unconditional love and support, as well as tutoring, recreational activities, and guidance in overall skill development.
Children are placed at Queen Louise Home by the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services with the hope that they will be reunited with family members or placed in a foster home.
Queen Louise Home is staffed around the clock by full-time child care workers and AmeriCorps members, who provide encouragement and activities geared toward cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. The staff also focuses on activities designed to maintain a supportive, family-like atmosphere, and work with the children to learn healthy habits of self-care.
